Get You Back to Work Orientation – Ticket to Work
Thursday, October 3, 2019 – 3:30-5:00 pm
Our Gaining Preparedness Skills (GPS) are designed for individuals with disabilities interested in seeking knowledge, confidence and the resources for pursuing employment. During the orientation introduction, you will learn about:
• Walton Options Services
• Employment Readiness Training
• The Ticket to Work Program
• Understanding the needs of Employers
• Establishing an individual work plan
• Including yourself in the workplace
• Empowering yourself through motivation
• The impact of work on Social Security Benefits

Journey to Financial Independence – Job Search Training
Wednesday, October 9, 2019 – 3:30-4:30 pm
This job search learning session aims to help individuals with disabilities prepare to explore employment opportunities and obtain employment skills. This training focuses on preparation, job search techniques, and provides options for best practices to help jump-start the choice to obtain viable sustainable employment.

• How to answer the question, “Where Are the Jobs?”

• Utilizing best practices for an active role in your job search plan

Disability Disclosure and Requesting Accommodation
Thursday, October 17, 2019 – 3:30-4:30 pm
To disclose or not disclose your disability? Disclosure is a personal choice and is entirely up to you. Having knowledge about your rights and responsibilities regarding disability disclosure and requesting accommodations as well as the employer’s rights and responsibilities is very important for obtaining, maintaining, and sustaining employment. Information shared in this training will help conversations around employment focus more on your ability than your disability. In this class we will cover:
• Disability Disclosure: What does it mean to disclose?
• Personal Choice: To disclose or not to disclose
• The types of questions employers can ask during an interview
• Reasonable Accommodations: What are they?
• Reasonable Accommodations: How to decide if you need one
• Reasonable Accommodations: How to request them
• Reasonable Accommodations: Identifying and negotiating adequate accommodations with employers
Soft and Social Skills in the Work Place
Wednesday, October 23, 2019 – 3:30-4:30 pm
Understanding soft and social skills are an essential part of successful interaction in the workplace. This GPS training will highlight these crucial, intangible skills so you have a better understanding as you navigate employment.
You will learn about:
• Essential soft skills to bring to the workplace
• Communication at work
• The business of effective listening
• Leadership
• Professionalism
• Time Management
• Learning to interact appropriately with a supervisor and co-workers
• Recognizing socially unacceptable language
Individualized Education Plan (IEP) & 504 Plan Basics (2 Part Series)
Thursday, November 7, 2019 – 3:30-4:30 pm, Thursday, November 14, 2019 – 3:30-4:30pm
This training is meant to provide general information to parents, students, and service providers with the opportunity to learn more about the Individualized Education Plan and the 504 Plan. The class also reviews the resources that are needed to understand each plan and the credentials that are required by law. Participants in attendance will learn to utilize resources to identify whether an individual could potentially qualify for the IEP or 504 plan.
You will have the opportunity to learn about:
• The Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and what must be included by law
• The 504 Plan and its accommodations
• The difference between an IEP and 504 Plan
• Assistive Technology
Community Resource Awareness Training
Wednesday, December 18, 2019 – 3:30-4:30 pm
If knowledge is power access is independence! Knowing and having access to resources in your community to help you maintain the level of independence you desire can be crucial. This resource awareness training is meant to educate consumers about general information on resources available in the community. Access to community resources can maximize support while refreshing and renewing abilities.
You will learn about:
• Community Resources
• Utilizing resource information
