Boldly Be Prepared

Have a disability? Boldly make decisions about your health.

BE INFORMED

The CDC currently advises certain populations to stay up-to-date with COVID vaccinations. The COVID-19 vaccine helps protect you from severe illness, hospitalization, and death. Additionally, the CDC has created an informational site for Staying Up to Date with COVID-19 Vaccines to answer questions about the vaccinations for different age groups.

BE EMPOWERED

COVID-19 testing can help you know if you have COVID-19 so you can decide what to do next, like getting treatment to reduce your risk of severe illness and taking steps to lower your chances of spreading the virus to others.

Your order of COVID tests is completely free – you won’t even pay for shipping. Want to know when your tests are coming? Sign up to receive email alerts when you order!

Vaccines are the best way to protect yourself and your loved ones from preventable diseases. The vaccines you receive are safe. Vaccines may be required at work, school, for travel or more activities. Adults need to consider annual vaccines as prescribed by your physician and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Recommended immunizations for adults (2025 version) can be found on the CDC website. Some of these include the Influenza/Flu vaccine, RSV, Shingles and Pneumococcal.

For assistance scheduling your vaccination or booster or getting to a clinic or provider, please contact your local Center for Independent Living:

BE PREPARED

The Disability Information and Access Line (DIAL) helps people with disabilities access COVID-19 vaccinations and tests. DIAL also provides information about essential services such as transportation, housing support, disability rights, and more.

The hotline also can provide information and resources to answer questions and address concerns about the vaccines and can connect callers to information and services that promote independent living and address fundamental needs, such as food, housing, and transportation.

DIAL accepts calls from anyone, including Deaf and hard-of-hearing callers using relay services. Just dial 888-677-1199. (People who use TTY relay can first dial 7-1-1, and then relay the 888-677-1199 number).

DIAL’s staff are trained to work with people of various communications abilities and will spend as much time as needed to ensure effective communication.

Disclaimer:  The staff of the Disability Vaccine Access Hotline are not licensed medical providers.  They are unable to offer medical advice about the best vaccine for you or predict how the vaccine may affect you or your family.
