The Augusta Office is a hub for the STAR Network which offers the opportunity for persons with disabilities to receive durable medical equipment that they may not otherwise be able to afford.
What is the STAR Program?
Southeastern Technology Access and Reuse Network helps consumers gain access to equipment they may need because they are uninsured or under-insured. this program is funded by the GA Tech Tools for Life Program. The equipment is generally used equipment that has been donated to the program which is then cleaned, inspected, and made available at various statewide warehouse locations, the primary being in Stone Mountain, Georgia operated by Friends of Disabled Adults and Children (FODAC). Walton Options is a local point of contact.
How does it work?
If you are a person with a disability and you have the need for a piece of equipment, you can either make a call to the Walton Options Augusta office or complete a Self-Referral Form online. A member of the Walton Options team will work with you to collect all the relevant information to understand exactly what you need. We then check the inventory of our local STAR warehouse to see if the item(s) is available.
Items that are in stock will be offered to the consumer for a minimal contribution fee. If the item is not available from the warehouse but is available through FODAC, we will arrange for it to be delivered during our scheduled monthly drop off. All items will be scheduled for pickup by appointment only on Tuesday or Thursday 9:00-4:00.
Please Note: The STAR Program IS NOT a retail outlet of any sort including a thrift store. Our purpose is to help persons with disabilities select and when available, view and try products before making a purchase. We are able to provide services as part of the STAR Network and funding sources. There is a minimal contribution fee for the items available which covers the expense of cleaning and handling.
What type of items do you have?
The STAR Program offers a variety of durable medical equipment for reuse. Some of the common items are:
- Shower chairs
- Transfer tub benches
- Wheelchairs
- Raised toilet seats
- Bedside commodes
- Hospital beds
- Walkers/rollators
Do you accept donations?
Yes! Donations of durable medical equipment that can be refurbished, sanitized and put back out in to the community are always welcome. Our most needed items include wheelchairs, walkers, rollators, transfer tub benches, shower chairs, adult diapers, bed chux as well as other durable medical equipment. If you have any of these items, or think we can utilize something you have, please call us at 706-724-6262 to find out the best way to bring those items in.
Walton Option does regret that we cannot take donations of furniture, clothing or food, as there are other agencies better equipped to handle those types of donations.
