Today we are excited to announce that nominations for the 2017 MVP Community Awards are open to the public. That’s right! If you know a business, organization, government official, action group or individual who you think is working to create a more inclusive community for persons with disabilities in the CSRA then we want to hear about it!

What are the MVP Awards?
The MVP Community Awards recognizes and honors those who are working to embrace the ideals and titles of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). We are looking for those out there who are creating a community that embraces the spirit of inclusion, independence, and equality. We want to highlight what is working in the CSRA and share those examples with everyone. But we can’t do it without you!

A winner of the MVP Community Awards 2016 is presented with his award by a Walton Options team member in front of the Walton Options Backdrop. The winner also has his service dog next to him.The MVP Community Awards selects winners based on nominations submitted by you the public for five separate categories. The five categories that make up the MVP Community Awards are:

  • Inclusive Employment
  • Community Government Award
  • Public Accommodation & Communications Award
  • Outstanding Service Organization Award
  • Outstanding Individual Advocate Award.

How do I submit a nomination?
Submitting a nomination is easy! Simply go to our Nominations Page, click the category button you want to submit a nominee for and complete the online form. If you need an accessible or large print version of the nomination form(s), all you need to do is send the Awards Team an email and we will get an electronic, full accessible version over to you. You can also swing by our Augusta Office (948 Walton Way) to pick up a hard copy of the nomination form.

Once you complete a nomination form, you can click submit on our online form, email a completed electronic version to our Awards Team, or return a completed hard copy form to the Augusta Office. After submitting, the rest is up to us! It is that simple.

How long will nominations be open?
The awards will be open for public nominations May 31 – September 11, 2017 through online forms on our Nominations Page. Hard copy/accessible forms can also be picked at the Augusta Office at 948 Walton Way or requested via email, advocacy@waltonoptions.org.

Can I submit more than one nominee?
Yes! In fact, if you know more than one potential nominee for the same or different categories, please enter all of them! Just make sure you complete one nomination form per nominee so the submission will be considered for finalist selections. You may also submit a single nominee for multiple awards if you feel that the nominee meets all the criteria for the separate awards. Just remember, each award category nomination must have a separate, completed form to be considered.

How are finalists and winners selected?
Finalists and winners will be selected by Selection Committees from across the Walton Options’ staff following the close of nominations. Finalists will be announced October 2, 2017. The finalist nominees will receive an invitation to The MVP Community Awards Celebration Lunch where the winners will be announced.
