P2P: Guiding Youth Toward Career Goals and Bright Futures

Campers from the CSRA, along with several members of the Walton Options Independent Living Team, had an amazing experience at the Pathways to Partnership Summer Dreamers Camp, hosted by the Roosevelt Warm Springs, a residential facility of vocational learning and training operated by the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency, in June 2025.

Over four days, campers:

  • Engaged in a supportive, college-style dorm atmosphere
  • Attended lectures focusing on independence and financial planning
  • Gained hands-on experience while exploring different career paths at Columbus Technical College
  • Concluded their adventure with a hospitality lecture followed by a fun outing to Great Wolf Lodge.

This experience not only broadened their horizons but also inspired them to envision a future where they could thrive in their chosen careers. The camp provided a nurturing environment where students could ask questions, explore different paths, and connect with mentors who guided them through the nuances of each field.

Beyond the educational aspects, the camp fostered a sense of community and camaraderie among the participants. Evening activities included team-building exercises and social events, allowing campers to form lasting friendships and build networks that could support them in their future endeavors.

The Summer Dreamers Camp exemplified how hands-on learning, and real-world experiences can empower young individuals, equipping them with the confidence and skills needed to pursue their dreams with vigor and determination. As they returned home, the campers carried with them not just memories but a renewed sense of purpose and a clearer vision of their potential.

Summer Dreamers Camp is funded by grant H421E230027 from the U.S. Department of Education. Camp is a component of the Pathways to Partnership program which is a collaboration between Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency and Centers for Independent Living like Walton Options.
